ANDREAS ROTHBART

Andreas is a sophomore at Windward High-School in Los Angeles. A self-professed “sneaker-head,” he has been obsessed with sneaker culture for years. In middle school, when he started rapidly growing out of his new sneakers (currently at a 11.5 and growing,) he began nurturing ideas about how to effectively recycle and share these lightly-used shoes with students in need from neighboring schools.

The concept of recycling lightly-used sneakers from kids attending private schools in Los Angeles and distributing them to students in underserved communities resonated with Andreas and the idea of creating a sneaker society that facilitated this exchange began to evolve. Sharing resources and fostering a community of civically minded youth, he hopes to grow the sneaker society in Los Angeles and beyond.

“Sharing with others is a great way to engage with the community and foster positive relationships.”
